About Trace of Cakes
Founded by impassioned home baker and Cork native Tracy Desmond Bell 7 years ago, Trace of Cakes creates unique and personalised cake creations for all special occasions and weddings.
Where It All Began
On the emergence of the growing sugar craft trend in 2013 she merged her creative talents together to create a birthday cake for a family member, and posted it on social media. The overnight interest in her creative bake led Tracy to realise a business opportunity and thus Trace of Cakes was born.
Operating from a purpose built cake studio in her hometown of Ballincollig, Co. Cork, Tracy solely produces one of a kind, homemade, cakes for her growing client base.
Her delicious locally renowned chocolate biscuit cake is constantly in high demand. Tracy is also the original architect named founder of the flavoured biscuit cake trend. She has completed The Irish Food Academy programme with SuperValu and Bord Bia. Tracy also teaches sugar craft to novice and advanced level sugar craft enthusiasts in her local community school.
Having acquired many social media followers over the years, Tracy became noticed by Irish celebrity clientele and subsequently produced fantastic wedding cakes for their big days, even personally delivering one of them to a castle in Florence, Italy and another to The Algarve, Portugal.
Her business continues to grow and she is now established as one of the most popular bakers in Cork and indeed Munster, even receiving orders from as far afield as Australia and Canada.
Above all, Tracy continues to break the boundaries of cake design by creating literally anything into a cake. She recently constructed a life size golf bag cake which was delivered on a golf trolley for a birthday celebration.
She specialises in wedding cakes and works closely with brides and grooms to create a perfect representation of the couples favourite flavours and designs that mean everything to them.
Tracy’s company values include working hard, achievement, innovation and provenance. Taste is key to her success and contributes to sustainability in terms of lack of food waste for her clients! Seasonality is important and her cake flavours are created using the freshest local fruits and ingredients.
Tracy’s bakery is HACCP standard and HSE approved. There is no large production involved in her creations, everything is simply made passionately and lovingly by Tracy’s hands in her home studio in Cork.
Tracy’s business continues to grow and she has numerous plans to bring her business to the next level. Always striving for new and different, bigger and better, her determination to succeed is evident in all she does, including working long hours, 7 days a week while st the same time managing a family home with 3 beautiful children.
